Data Source: IMF DOTS | Methodology: For each year, we represent the trade database as a directed graph ($G$). We calculate the Eigenvector Centrality $(\lambda)$ for every node. This doesn't just count trade partners; it assigns higher scores to countries connected to other influential countries (e.g., trading with China gives you more "influence" than trading with a peripheral island). Vietnam has successfully inserted itself into the "core" of the network, by 2024, it has surged to #3, surpassing traditional powerhouses like Taiwan, Singapore, and South Korea. This is a confirmation of Vietnam's role as the primary alternative manufacturing hub in the "China Plus One" strategy.
